In the Borderlands2023
Design Museum Helsinki
In the Borderlands brought together a decade of work — pieces made between 2013 and 2023 — as the main exhibition of Design Museum Helsinki's 150th anniversary. The most visited exhibition in the museum's history, it explored the territory the practice has always occupied: the space between the imagined and the real, sleep and waking, clarity and distortion. Works from the Hypnopompic, First Symptoms, and Mythology series were shown together for the first time, tracing a decade of investigation into migraine aura, hallucinatory vision, and the recurring structures that appear across natural systems, neurological experience, and myth.
Two newly commissioned large-scale works, Forest Boy and Ideal Fall, were made for the exhibition. Both entered permanent collections — Forest Boy to the Design Museum, Ideal Fall to the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Collection.
