V&A Select is a new collection of artist prints commissioned by the V&A. Each print is available in an edition of just 75. The artists were chosen for the way their work connects with the V&A and creates the opportunity for a new dialogue with the collection. |

Kustaa Saksi’s print, commissioned by the V&A, is based on an early 16th-century millefleurs tapestry in the museum’s collection. The artwork reimagines the narrative of the tapestry as a meeting between a Unicorn and Horus, wandering through a field of flowers. Using multiple layers of pattern, an interesting link between woven tapestries and screen-printing is formed. The combination of bold colours and ornamentation creates new hues and textures that are optically mixed by the viewer.
In 2020 Kustaa was shortlisted for the V&A Illustration awards, and in 2017 he was commissioned by the V&A in collaboration with IC-98 for Collecting Europe resulting in A World in Waiting, an installation in the Norfolk House Music Room.
Created exclusively for the V&A.
